The Pit Stop

College Cyclery is opening a “Pit Stop” in Walnut Grove south of Sacramento. The Pit Stop will be a destination for cyclist touring the Sacramento Delta as well as a pit stop for boaters looking for some Oakley sunglasses or Lucas oil products. The Pit Stop will also service bicycles and have a little art work and cool stuff such as old vintage collectables. Look for us soon on highway 160 at the walnut grove bridge in the old gas station next to Morris Motors. Check back soon for more info!

Pedaling to Adventure at the California State Fair

The California State Fair opens Wednesday July 14^th and runs until Sunday August 1^st. This year’s fair has some awesome events for the bicycle enthusiast. Check out the State Fair’s Pedaling to adventure which will feature lots of great speakers including our friend and BMX Hall of Fame inductee, Danny Oakley, on Saturday July 17^th at 2pm and 4pm. Danny designed his own race bikes that were built by Mongoose and BMX products. The Geometry used for Danny’s bikes later turned into famous bikes like the Mongoose made “Moosegoose” and the Koss “Cruiser”.

On Sunday July 18^th at 2pm and 4pm check out Tommy Brackens, AKA “The Human Dragster”. Tommy won the gold at the 2000 X-Games and is also a BMX Hall of Fame inductee. Tommy was named the “Human Dragster” for his ability to get the holeshot out of the gate. Tommy’s bikes later evolved into Brackens racing bicycles.

The Big Red Van takes the College Cyclery Crew to Northstar at Tahoe.

After a long week the College Cyclery Crew headed up to Northstar at Tahoe in the Big Red Van for some downhill mountain biking fun! We had a blast and can’t wait to head up again in the next couple of weeks.

Northsar at tahoe has 36 mountain bike trails open!

The last few weeks have been great cycling weather and snow has finally melted in Tahoe. Northstar at Tahoe now has 36 trails open for mountain biking and they plan to have the entire upper mountain open by this weekend. Need suspension work? It’s been an exciting week here at College Cyclery, our good friend and Pro-Rider Josh Bender stopped by on Friday and hammered on one our staff’s personal bikes, we always appreciate the knowledge and help Josh is so gratious to give us. On Saturday Josh and the College Cyclery Crew hit up the Downieville downhill for some back country riding. It was great to see you Josh, we look for to your next visit. Sunday we left the bikes behind and headed to Walnut Grove on the Sacramento Delta with the kids to escape the heat. We found a great restaurant called Tony’s where we had a great time kicking it on their comfy couch. Check this joint out if you are down that way, its worth stopping buy. Last but not least, the guys over at Marzocchi Suspension stopped by the shop today on their way back from Northstar at Tahoe. Those guys are awesome and it was great checking out the lastest and greatest from Marzocchi. Inspite of the heat today, the rest of the week looks like its going to be perfect riding weather! “Here we go again” is back in stock!

We now have “Here we go again” back in stock after blowing through the first batch. This film was produced by Don Hampton over at DH Productions and we were proud to be involved. Terry Cox and Randy Spangler took the DH Crew to Auburn to ride our favorite trails and then to sac raceway to display some nitro burning brute horsepower. Our buddy Randy jumped Terry driving a Top Fuel Dragster!

The first shipment of these bikes went very fast and why not it is a simple sturdy bike for those in the downtown grid. Well don’t worry we just got our new order and are fully stocked once again. The draft sells for $289.98 and the upgraded draft lite sells for just $359.98.

Thank you, to all of our customers for your support of College Cyclery. At college Cyclery we are always looking for new ways to give a little back to our community. We have participated in local events like the Earth Day Festival, Gunther’s Ice Cream 70^thanniversary celebration and most recently a fundraiser for the Child Abuse Prevention Center. We also build pump parks, like the one we built at the sea otter classic. These parks offer a safe place for everyone from small children to expert riders to practice their skills. Last but not least we are working with Lucas oil to develop lubricants that will dramatically extend the life of bicycles and bike parts, making cycling even greener.
