New Years Resolutions for Cyclists

1. Ride your bike for no reason. The best adventures are sponteneous. The reason to ride are numerous: fun, excercise, meeting new people, seeing things slower, stopping at your local bike shops and coffee shops, and of course, the pure joy of just riding.

2. Take care of your bicyce, and it will take care of you. Here are some basic maintence things you can do easily to keep rolling with confidence: keep your tires full, you’ll peddle easier. Check your brakes, the last thing you want to happen on your ride is brake failure. Keep a patch kit, extra batteries and a couple of dollars for a candy bar in case you bonk out on a long ride. When it rains, put your bike in a dry place so as to keep it from rusting.

4. Leave the car at home and ride to work. If you already do, then maybe try riding in the rain. You’ll save money, get more exercise, meet more people, see more and generally be happier. More bicycle rides = a better quality of life.

5. Pull over for a stranger who may need help with a flat tire and help them. You will undboutedly feel good, help somebody in need, and be a force for possivity in a world that could sure use more.
